According to the latest Henley Passport Index 2025, the Pakistani passport has significantly improved in global ranking, now positioned at 100th, climbing from 113th place in 2021. This rise reflects incremental progress in international mobility for Pakistani nationals.
Visa-Free & Visa-on-Arrival Access
Pakistani passport holders can now enjoy access—visa-free or via visa-on-arrival—to an estimated 32 countries across regions such as Africa, the Caribbean, and South Asia. Though still limited compared to many countries, this access shows a marked improvement and is expected to aid leisure and business travel.
Why This Matters
This enhanced travel flexibility is a result of focused diplomatic outreach and bilateral agreements aimed at expanding international access for Pakistanis. Pakistani officials—including the Interior Minister—have emphasized the government’s commitment to further improving travel freedom through strategic partnerships
Interior Minister Promises Future Improvements
At a recent Karachi Chamber of Commerce meeting, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that Pakistan is committed to improving its passport ranking. He cited ongoing negotiations for more visa access and stronger diplomatic ties.
